Abstract
Purpose: This study identified the Core Practice Competencies(CPC) of occupational therapists able to measure the effects of education, and examined an evaluation method for competency experts and beginning occupational therapists.

Method: From November 2016 to July 2017, the validity of the occupational therapist CPC items were examined for competency experts and beginning occupational therapists. Through a literature review and consultations with experts, 134 CPC sub-items were derived. The first questionnaire(52 respondents) for the competency experts focused on their importance and frequency. Atotal of 104 CPC sub-items were confirmed for the first time. The validity and evaluation method were investigated through a second questionnaire(54 persons). The beginning occupational therapists(102 persons) also examined the validity, importance, frequency, and evaluation methods of 104 sub-items.

Result: The sub-items of CPC consist of 104 items. The Content validity Index(CVI) ranged from 0.85 to 1.0 for a group of job experts and a group of beginning occupational therapists. The 104 sub-items were categorized into 21 evaluation areas that were presented at Korean Accreditation Board for Occupational Therapy Education(KABOTE). According to the characteristics of the items, the evaluation methods include the actual performance(highest), Subject, Object, Assessment, Plan(SOAP), video, chart review, and case study.

Conclusion: A CPC, which must essentially be fulfilled during occupational therapy training, was investigated. The sub-items were identified and the evaluation methods were presented. This result will be used as a tool for evaluating the competency of pre-occupational therapist in a school or clinical setting.
